How MOTDesk collects, uses and protects information for garages and their customers.
Overview
MOTDesk ("we", "us") provides MOT booking and workshop management software to UK garages. This policy explains what we collect when you use the MOTDesk dashboard, mobile app, customer booking widget, and related services.
We process data to run your account, take payments through Stripe, send booking confirmations and MOT reminders, and improve the product. We do not sell customer data to third parties.
Data we collect
- Garage account details: business name, address, contact email, staff users and roles.
- Customer booking data: name, phone, email, vehicle registration, appointment times, MOT results.
- Payment metadata processed by Stripe (we do not store full card numbers).
- Usage and technical logs to keep the service secure and reliable.
Cookies and measurement
Optional analytics and advertising cookies stay unloaded until you choose. Accept all allows Google Analytics 4 and the existing Google Ads tag. Reject all keeps the cookies needed to sign in, book and take payments. Manage preferences lets you allow one of those categories. Cookie settings in the footer stores a new choice and withdraws the categories you turn off.
With analytics allowed, Google Analytics receives the page you are on, the referring page and a client identifier. Checkout session IDs, email addresses and payment secrets are removed from those page addresses. With advertising allowed, Google Ads receives the same kind of visit data. After a verified first subscription payment, and only with advertising allowed, MOTDesk can send a SHA-256 hash of the signup email with that conversion. The plain email is not sent as an analytics parameter, and it is not placed on the Stripe cancellation address.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you may request access, correction, or deletion of personal data we hold about you or your garage. Contact support@motdesk.com for privacy requests.
