- Where you configure online payment at booking, customers pay before the slot is confirmed — giving the appointment real financial commitment. Automated SMS and email reminders (including day-before and short-notice reminders where enabled) also help customers remember their appointment. Your own cancellation and refund policy applies if someone does not attend.
- You decide. MOTDesk supports online payment at booking where enabled, and pay-at-garage options where configured. Some garages prefer payment upfront; others take payment in the workshop.
- Online payments go through Stripe Connect to your garage’s connected Stripe account. MOTDesk deducts its platform fee from eligible online payments; Stripe processing is separate.
- No. Stripe handles card payment details. MOTDesk coordinates bookings and payment links but does not store card numbers.
- MOTDesk can send booking confirmations and appointment reminders by SMS where consented — including day-before and two-hour reminders before the MOT. Next-MOT retention messaging is supported where configured. Email reminders are also included.
- SMS texts are 9p each on your monthly Stripe invoice. There is no free SMS allowance. You can turn SMS billing off in Billing if you prefer email-only reminders.
- Yes. Customers can receive a secure link to reschedule online, following your real availability rules — when self-service rescheduling is enabled.
