MOTDesk vs the old way

Stop running the MOT diary from the phone

Letting customers book online saves the hours you currently spend answering “have you got a slot?”. MOTDesk puts that booking in a live diary, keeps the job on one card, and gives the customer a clear way to pay or come back next year.

The old loop

Phone, pencil, voicemail, repeat.

The phone never stops

Someone is under the ramp. A customer rings to book an MOT. It goes to voicemail — or they try the garage down the road.

The diary is a bottleneck

Pencil, rubber, two people writing at once. Easy to overbook a bay or lose a slot that was never written down.

Chasing after the test

Failed MOT means phone tag for the quote, then again for payment. Notes and photos live in a drawer or on someone's phone.

Your time

Organise online. Spend the day on the cars.

Every booking a customer makes themselves is one less interruption. Staff still take walk-ins and phone bookings — they just use the same slots, so the day stays organised.

Customers book themselves

A widget on your website shows real slots. They pick a time, even at 10pm, without anyone answering the phone.

One live diary

Website bookings and staff bookings use the same bay rules. You see the day in MOTDesk instead of a paper book.

Reminders go out for you

Confirmations and appointment reminders by email (SMS at 9p if you want them). Fewer forgotten MOTs.

Repairs without the phone tag

Send an estimate link. The customer can accept and pay from their phone. The job card stays with the vehicle.

Security for the garage

Your money and your customer list stay yours.

  • Payments through Stripe

Online card payments use Stripe Connect. Payouts go to your garage. MOTDesk never holds customer card numbers.

  • Staff have their own login

Owners can limit what workshop staff see. Sessions are encrypted. You are not sharing one password on a workshop PC.

  • Customers get a private link

Booking, estimate and invoice links are token-based. The public does not get an open view of your diary or other people's jobs.

Convenience for customers

They book, get reminded, and pay without chasing you.

  • Book when it suits them

Evenings and weekends, when your phone is off the hook or the office is closed.

  • Clear next step on their phone

Confirmation, reminder, reschedule link where you allow it, and a Pay Now link after a fail.

  • They know where to come

Your garage name and address go on confirmations and invoices — less “which MOT station was it?” next year.

Questions before you switch

No. Add the MOTDesk booking widget to the site you already have. Customers book there; the appointment lands in your MOTDesk diary.
